Abra – abra – cadabra. i wanna reach out and grab ya

Every great magic trick consists of three acts. The first act is called “The Pledge”; The magician shows you something ordinary, but of course… it probably isn’t. The second act is called “The Turn”; The magician makes his ordinary some thing do something extraordinary. Now if you’re looking for the secret… you won’t find it, that’s why there’s a third act called, “The Prestige”; this is the part with the twists and turns, where lives hang in the balance, and you see something shocking you’ve never seen before.

if you haven’t seen the prestige yet, you really should. mark kermode described it as ‘cinematic suduko’ and it is a real puzzle of a movie. nolan just never dissapoints. the film is gripping, emotionaly involving and a bit creepy. it looks amazing, the performances are great and it has a dream cast.

weirdly this film is also out for release soon – they don’t seem to be based on the same story, but it’s like antz and a bugs life all over again! check out the two trailers here and here and see if you can spot the differences….
