All children have to be deceived if they are to grow up without trauma

never let me go (the most recent novel by kazuo ishiguro) has just come out in paperback. he is my favourite author and this book did not let me down. this story has his usual themes of the amnesiac/unreliable narator (often characters, as in this book, who are ‘in denial’ about their past or present actions) but with a more ‘contemporary’ than usual plot-line and a dare-say-it sci-fi/sci-fact element. that said it is still ishiguro through and through and should please any fan of his work.
i would say that next to ‘remains of the day’ this book would make a very good introduction to his writing. i am allready looking forward to re-reading it now that actually own it (borrowed from the library the first time around.)
