No one would have believed, in the early years of the twenty first century…

the jeff wayne musical of war of the worlds is going on tour! with the ‘sight and sounds’ of richard burton. (whatever that may mean)
‘horsell common and the heat ray’ really gave me the willies as a child. particularly the bit where you hear those creaky metal noises of the containers openning. brrr. i love the idea of seeing it on stage, though sadly it would be without most of the original cast. couldn’t they have the ‘sight and sound’ of julie covington too? i guess she’s not famous (or dead) enough to warrant holographic reproduction.

  1. oh yes, you really should. it’s brilliant. put it on when you’re in bed at night and listen to it as a story – even though its music. burton’s naration is just perfect. give it a whirl and let me know what you think.
